“I did not want to create just another travel agency in Madagascar. I wanted to create journeys where travelers can discover our wildlife, landscapes, and people through meaningful experiences.”
Onisca Vazaha, Founder of LBM
Madagascar is a destination like no other. From the unique wildlife of its rainforests and national parks to the beaches and islands of the Indian Ocean, Madagascar offers extraordinary opportunities for discovery. But for us, travel in Madagascar is about more than visiting famous places. It is about meeting people, experiencing local culture, discovering nature and creating meaningful connections along the way. As a locally based Madagascar travel agency, LBM creates responsible and immersive journeys that connect travelers with wildlife, landscapes, culture and local communities. Based in Antananarivo, we design experiences for travelers who want to explore Madagascar in a more authentic and meaningful way, while being welcomed and supported by a local team.
1. Madagascar is more than a destination
Madagascar is famous for its extraordinary biodiversity, with around 90% of its species found nowhere else in the world. Lemurs, chameleons, baobabs, unique birds, rainforests, coral reefs and beautiful islands make the country a truly exceptional destination for wildlife and nature travel. But Madagascar is not only about wildlife and landscapes. It is also about people, culture and connection. With 18 officially recognized ethnic groups and a rich heritage shaped by African, Southeast Asian and Indian Ocean influences, Madagascar offers an incredible diversity of traditions, food, music, crafts and ways of life. Whether you are exploring Nosy Be, discovering Madagascar’s national parks, walking among baobabs or meeting local communities, every journey offers an opportunity to see a different side of the country. This is the Madagascar we want to share with you.
2. Travel to explore, not just to see
We created LBMT to offer travelers a more immersive way to explore Madagascar. Our journeys combine wildlife, nature, culture and local experiences, allowing travelers to go beyond traditional sightseeing and discover the country through meaningful encounters. Depending on your journey, you may cook with local women, meet artisans, experience Malagasy traditions, explore remote islands and beaches, discover local food and communities, or observe Madagascar’s remarkable wildlife in its natural environment. We believe that responsible travel and authentic experiences can make a journey more memorable. That is why we work with local guides and partners who know Madagascar from the inside and can help travelers experience its landscapes, culture and everyday life with greater connection and understanding. Our aim is simple: to help you discover the country at your own pace. Feel welcomed and supported, and experience more than what you see from a sightseeing itinerary.
3. Responsible tourism that creates local opportunities
For LBMT, responsible tourism in Madagascar means caring for both nature and people.Whenever possible, we work with local guides, drivers, boat operators, restaurants, artisans, accommodation providers and community initiatives. By choosing local partners, we aim to keep tourism opportunities within the communities we visit and create meaningful connections between travelers and local people. Our work also extends beyond travel experiences. Through our connection with Eden School, travelers can take part in educational and cultural exchanges. Through Viavy Epic Mada (VEM), we support initiatives that create opportunities for women through skills development, entrepreneurship and employment. These initiatives are part of our wider vision for sustainable tourism in Madagascar: tourism that allows travelers to discover exceptional places while also contributing to the people, communities and local initiatives that make those places special. We believe that tourism can create connections, support local opportunities and encourage greater appreciation for Madagascar’s nature, culture and communities.

Whether you come to Madagascar to see a lemur, walk among baobabs, discover the Tsingy de Bemaraha, explore the islands or experience Malagasy culture, we invite you to look beyond the highlights.
Meet the people. Discover the culture. Experience Madagascar.
If you are looking for a more authentic and responsible way to explore Madagascar, we would be happy to help you create an amazing journey.
